The Endelienta Ensemble
This is the 3rd visit of the young musicians. Their enthusiasm and professionalism is very special. Come and enjoy!
BELL RINGERS FROM CALLINGTON
Owen Borlase and his father brought ringers from the Callington area to ring the newly restored Lanteglos bells. Owen had previously helped to take the bells down before they went off to Taylors in Loughborough. He was impressed by how well they ring now.
MIKE SILVER GIG
Mike Silver with Kate Ritz (cello) and Julie Boreham. A wonderful evening both relaxing and spellbinding. Part of the evening was Rob Barratt performing his own comic poetry
St Julitta's Church on Christmas Eve
A spacial Covid compliant sevice on 24th December with social distancing - except in a family bubble, with mask wearing and sanitising.
THE ENDELIENTA ENSEMBLE and FRIENDS
A happy link between the Endelienta wind group and Krysia Osostowicz’s quartet masterclass musicians came together at St Julitta’s for a wonderful and most memorable concert. Although, the concert was during the corona virus pandemic, the musicians and the audience took all measures to minimise risks.
This is a short clip from Till Eulenspiegel by Richard Strause 1894. Till was a practical joker who lived in the 14th century and caused havoc. This was roughly the time when the tower at St Julitta’s built.
Krysia's unaccompanied Bach
After Krysia’s planned event on 8th August was stopped due to Covid-19 fears, she kindly agreed to play in an empty church. Here she plays Praeludium from Bach’s Partita No 3 in E. Her 300 year old Violin was made near Venice in 1720 - which happens to be when Bach composed this music and when St Julitta’s was already about 500 years old
Toby Wright - age 16 - improvises a happy tune
Toby from Berkshire is aged 16 and on holiday in Cornwall. He is so keen to play on church organs that he came to an empty St Julitta’s church at Lanteglos by Camelford and improvised a happy marching tune - made up as he went along. Watch his feet playing the pedals and both keyboards working hard. He hopes to become a Cathedral organist one day, playing a massive organ. Nevertheless, he was very complementary about St Julitta's organ and may come again to give a concert when the church is fully open after Covid-19 settles down.
Gareth plays Bach to bring joy and happiness in spite of Covid-19
This was the first proper exercise for the organ since the enforced Covid-19 shut down. Gareth chose an appropriate prelude of Bach BWV 553.
Choral Evensong after Snowdrop Saturday - great singing!
Choral Evensong has not been had at St Julitta’s within living memory and quite possibly never before. We hope that it can be repeated the future. It was special!
SNOWDROP SATURDAY
To celebrate the beautiful snowdrops - an early welcome to spring - the church will be open for light refreshments and live music performed by the Cotswold Recorder Players who will play background music for us.
Johnny Cowling
Johnny Cowling gave a large audience of 170 people a happy and fun evening of jokes and singing. He was impressed by the restoration of the church and stressed how important these ancient community buildings are for local people. People seemed pleased with the lighting and heating although at one stage all the lights went out - but eventually came back on. It was presumed to be a lightning strike.
MIKE SILVER AND FRIENDS
MIKE SILVER AND FRIENDS WILL PLAY AT THE OPENING CONCERT
Mike is a singer-songwriter who lives in Camelford and is very well known around the UK and on the Continent. He has the most wonderful singing voice and is not to be missed. This will be the opening concert after the restoration and together with his wife Julie and guitarist Joe Partridge it will be an event to remember. See poster for details
BACH COMES TO ST JULITTA'S
Steve Tyrrell is the organist for St Julitta’s Church. He is a brilliant musician and gave a recital of J S Bach’s works that included the famous and the less well known. The church has wonderful acoustics and was beautifully lit by candles. The concert ended with a flourish ….. Bach’s Toccata and fugue in D minor!
MIKE SILVER SINGS AT LANTEGLOS
Mike has sung at Lanteglos church before. He has an amazing voice and is a brilliant musician. Not surprising that he is in big demand around the UK and Europe. We enjoyed a great evening of wonderful musicianship
Caitlin sings at the Flower Festival September 2018
The Church was wonderfully decorated as part of the Flower Festival and Caitlin sang solo as part of the Service
SONGS OF PRAISE
As part of the Flower Festival Songs of Praise, James (16yrs) played guitar and sang for us. Thank you James. That was brilliant!
Penzance Youth String Orchestra and Bilegtugs Lut
Something really special happened at St Julitta's. The amazing 13 year old violinist Bilegtugs Lut came to Lanteglos. He is already an international prize winner for his advanced musical ability with the violin and he played with other talented young musicians. The main part of the programme was Vivaldi's Four Seasons where Bilegtugs was the soloist. Although Biletugs was born in the UK, his parents are from Mongolia - hence his unusual name, often shortened to 'Bill'!
